Convert AVIF to PNG

Turn AVIF images from websites and newer phones into PNG files that every editor and app can open, with transparency kept.

How to convert AVIF to PNG

  1. Choose or drop one or more AVIF files.
  2. Select Convert to PNG.
  3. Download each PNG, or all of them in one ZIP file.

Why choose PNG for AVIF images

AVIF files often carry transparent backgrounds, especially logos, product cut-outs and stickers saved from online shops. PNG keeps that transparency, so the image still sits cleanly on slides, documents and designs. PNG is also lossless, which makes it the right format when you plan to edit the image further.

If you only need a photo to share or upload and do not need transparency, AVIF to JPG gives a much smaller file.

Which browsers can read AVIF

The converter uses your browser's own decoder. Current Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and Safari 16 or later, all read AVIF. If a file fails, update the browser and try again.

Troubleshooting

Using the PNG in documents and designs

PNG images with transparency sit cleanly on coloured slide backgrounds and document headers in PowerPoint, Google Slides, Word and Canva. If an app shows a black background where transparency should be, it does not support transparent PNG; place the image on a white background in an editor first, or convert to JPG with AVIF to JPG.

Questions

Is anything uploaded?

Your files never leave your device. The conversion runs inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded to a server and there are no daily limits.

Why is the PNG larger than the AVIF?

AVIF is one of the most efficient image formats available. PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression, so the same picture takes more space.

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes. Add as many AVIF files as you like and download them together as a ZIP.
